Lakeland Regional Library

Providing Library Services to Killarney-Turtle Mountain and Cartwright-Roblin

With branches in both Killarney and Cartwright Manitoba, Lakeland Regional Library is proud to offer a variety of library services to the tax payers of the Municipality of Killarney Turtle Mountain and the Cartwright Roblin Municipality. The goal of Lakeland Regional Library is to provide local residents with materials and programs conveying ideas and information necessary for modern community life.

Membership:

Resident Memberships:

  • Property owners and residents, including those paying rent, of the Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain, the Cartwright Roblin Municipality; fees are paid through property taxes. (Must provide street address, section/township/range).

  • Adult patron status given to 16 years of age and older. Junior patron status given to patrons 15 years old and younger.

  • School aged children (up to grade 12) enrolled at a Killarney or Cartwright school may also be granted a membership at no charge regardless of residency. If the child does not reside in one of the funding RMs, this membership will expire upon graduation from grade 12.

  • There is a reciprocal borrowing agreement with the Municipality of Boissevain – Morton allowing patrons from each library borrowing privileges at the other’s library.

Non-Resident Memberships

  • Monthly membership is $10.00/month/household

  • Twelve (12) month membership is $80.00/household

Regulations:

  • Regular loan period is 3 weeks

  • Magazine loan period is 3 weeks

  • Video and DVD loan period is 1 week

  • Storysack loan period is 1 week

  • Patron is responsible for cost of any lost or damaged items

Accessibility:

Killarney branch offers ramp access at the backdoor where there is a buzzer should you need assistance. Our halls are clutter free and the bathroom is accessible. Cartwright has a new ramp at the front door. Seating is available at both branches.

Please ask us about our audio and large print collections as well as our new accessible technology; iPads, Envoy Connects, and Victor Readers.

Services


Collection

Adult collection includes: fiction, non-fiction, romance, science fiction, large print, western, biography, Christian, fantasy, audio books, and eBooks. There is also a collection of 40 magazines, reference books and the Killarney Guide newspaper. The children's collection includes, easy picture books, story books, storysacks, juvenile and young adult fiction and non-fiction. Additionally there is a selection of DVDs available. Finally, your membership offers you access to Libby (eLibraries Manitoba) which an online catalogue of free eBooks and audio books.


Book Services for Seniors

We are pleased to offer a monthly visit to Bayside, Lakeview Garden and Royal Manor. Staff pick a selection based on residents' taste, requests, and reading history. These items can be kept until the next visit and can be renewed if not done. If you or someone you know may benefit from this service you can contact the library.


Online Search

Our catalogue is available online by clicking here. If you don't find what you're looking for in our catalogue we are happy to request it from another library through the inter-library loan system of Manitoba Libraries or you can search the database yourself by clicking here. Finally, patrons of Lakeland Regional Library have access to Ebscohost. Contact the library staff for login information, and enter the website by clicking here.
 


Used Book Sale

We have an ongoing book sale in the basement of the library. Prices are as follows:

  • Hard covers or trade paperbacks are $.50 each or 3 for $1.00

  • Paperbacks are $.25 each or 6 for $1.00

  • Magazines are $.10 each

  • Videos or DVDs are $.50 each

  • Puzzles are $1.00 each


Public Internet & Computer Access

The library has four computers available to the public. Library membership is not required. There is no charge for usage.
Black and white printing and photocopying is .25 cents/page and colour is .75 cents/page.
Also if you want to scan something to a usb drive we also offer that service now at no cost.

We can also send a fax for you at the cost of $1 per number dialed.
